Coverage

Recovery authority is jurisdictional. Where we operate domestically and internationally — and how we handle the places where the rules change.

Jurisdiction Governs Everything

A bond written in one state does not carry the same authority in the next. Some states require law enforcement notification before any recovery attempt. Some require a local license, or prohibit private recovery entirely and route the matter through a warrant. Some recognize out-of-state agents; others do not.

We scope every assignment against the rules of the state where the subject is located. Where private recovery is restricted, we shift to an intelligence-and-warrant posture: locate, verify, document, and hand a workable package to the authority that can act on it.

Nationwide Coverage

We take assignments in all 50 states. What changes state to state is not whether we can work the file — it is the posture the file is worked in.

Direct field capability

States permitting private recovery by an authorized agent. We investigate, locate, and coordinate the field phase, with law enforcement notified wherever the statute requires it.

Network coordination

States requiring a locally licensed agent. We run intelligence and case management; a vetted local professional executes the field phase under our coordination and reporting standard.

Intelligence & warrant

States restricting or prohibiting private recovery. We locate, verify, and document to an evidentiary standard, then hand a workable package to the authority that can act on it.

Which posture applies is determined at the authorization stage, against the rules of the state where the subject is located — not the state that wrote the bond. If a file cannot be worked lawfully in a given jurisdiction, we say so before anyone spends money on it.

International Capability

American Locator & Recovery maintains investigative and recovery capability internationally. Through a network of licensed investigators and professional partners, we provide investigative support and fugitive recovery assistance wherever a file leads.

Whether a subject has crossed a state line or left the country, our network allows us to develop leads, coordinate with trusted local professionals, and return reliable intelligence and a workable recovery path to the client.

How Cross-Border Files Are Handled

International work is structured differently from a domestic assignment, and the distinction matters for the client's exposure. Private apprehension authority granted by a bond does not extend across an international border. What travels is investigative capability and the relationships to act on it lawfully in-country.

Locate & verify In-country investigative work to establish presence and confirm it to an evidentiary standard.
Local coordination Engagement of licensed local investigators and professional partners operating under the law of that jurisdiction.
Authority liaison Coordination with the appropriate authorities and consular channels on extradition, voluntary return, or an immigration-driven resolution.
Client reporting The same documentation standard as a domestic file, prepared for surety and court review.

Our international capability makes American Locator & Recovery a resource for surety companies and bail agencies facing complex, cross-border fugitive cases — the files that stall everywhere else.
